Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers anywhere in the world. While competing in internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world could be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen playing web poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
