NL Holdem Poker- Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 in which he loved playing numerous card games at a young age. He found himself becoming really competitive in these card games while competing against his father. After finishing high school, Howard decided to place college on hold for a little while and moved away to New York City to play some formidable chess. While competing in chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s 1st two years were difficult as he played many hours and fail to win a majority of the time. He made some additional cash by being an assistant for the poker players. He theorized he might better his game by adjusting his life away from poker. He made an effort to get more sleep and concentrate more on poker.
The definite improvement in his abilities began when he started betting at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best players would regularly play against each other. Howard had access into a few of the greatest minds in chess. With their help, Howard would tweak his strategic thinking abilities. He used these strategic concepts in the game of NL Texas Holdem.
Howard also helped his sister Annie Duke learn poker. Annie was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about how to make the correct choice. Howard told Annie Duke to head out to Sin City and compete in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the strongest women players the poker arena today. He headed to Las Vegas in 1993 and played cash games for the next decade. When the WPT gained popularity, he decided to play more tournaments.
