Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

[ English ]

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the closing poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While wagering on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total dollar value. I think television can skew our view of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world might be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha hi-low and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money games?
