NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative comments from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
