Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most complex but favored poker games. It’s a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites play from all levels of players. This is the primary reason why a once irrelevant game, has increased in popularity so amazingly.

Omaha/8 begins like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to every player. A sequence of wagering ensues in which players can wager, check, or fold. 3 cards are dealt out, this is called the flop. One more sequence of wagering happens. Once all the players have either called or dropped out, a further card is flipped on the turn. a further round of betting follows at which point the river card is flipped. The entrants will need to put together the strongest high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is where a few players can get flustered. Contrasted to Holdem, in which the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player has to use precisely three cards on the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. No more, not a single card less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot might be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is just what it sounds like. It is the strongest possible hand out of everyone’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the very same concept in almost all poker games.

A low hand is more difficult, but certainly opens up the play. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that can be put together, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there’s no lower hand presented, the higher hand wins the entire pot.

Although it seems difficult at the start, following a few rounds you will be agile enough to pick up on the base nuances of the game easily enough. Since you have people betting for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as so many cards are being used at once, Omaha/8 provides an overwhelming collection of betting options and seeing that you have many individuals trying for the high, and a few battling for the low. If you prefer a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it is worth your time to participate in Omaha 8 or better.
