Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While gambling on web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He often competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I think television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
